HMAS Childers may be the smallest international vessel at MILAN 2014, but the Armidale Class Patrol boat drew the largest crowd at the food and cultural display in Port Blair, India.

The Royal Australian Navy has held a moving commemorative service onboard HMAS Choules for over 200 survivors and families of the 82 brave souls who lost their lives when HMAS Voyager (II) and HMAS Melbourne (II) tragically collided off Jervis Bay on 10 February 1964.

A memorial church service was held at HMAS Creswell on Sunday 9 February 2014, for over 100 families and survivors of the tragic collision on 10 February 1964 between HMAS Voyager (II) and HMAS Melbourne (II) which resulted in the loss of 82 lives.

Perfect weather attracted record crowds to Australia Day celebrations around Tasmania and the Royal Australian Navy was there to wave the flag at two of the island state’s largest events, A Day on the Beach in Kingston, and the annual Sandy Bay Regatta.

Navy came within a whisker of winning the second annual King’s Cup basketball championship but were beaten 43-40 by a combined Air Force and Army team.

Leading Seaman Physical Trainer Steve McWilliams referees one of the volleyball games during the HMAS Stirling Monthly Sports Challenge.

The first round of the inaugural monthly sports challenge competition was held last week at HMAS Stirling. In order to bring together people from the many lodger units at the Navy’s large West Australian base, the physical training instructors at Stirling designed a competition comprising of a different sporting event each month.
