As the Richmond Tigers held up the Australian Football League premiership trophy at the Melbourne Cricket Ground, it was a different story in downtown Doveton for the Dogs of HMAS Cerberus, as their winning streak and dream of back-to-back premierships was shattered.
Occupying an area of about 16 hectares on the Mornington Peninsula, in Victoria, West Head Gunnery Range is one of the world’s few remaining shore-to-sea live firing training sites. With its location comes some difficulty in accessing services that most Navy personnel have at hand – the answer, taking them to the Range.

Only six months after joining the Navy, Seaman Emily Wood has found herself on the ship bearing the name of her home town. After joining the Navy Gap Year program from the national capital in January she was recently given the opportunity to complete three weeks at sea onboard HMAS Canberra.
