Seven months ago Finnish expatriate Taija Vaisanen chased a life’s dream and joined the Royal Australian Navy; and more recently she found herself off the coast of Hawaii on board the Anzac Class frigate, HMAS Warramunga.

Navy Canteens chair Commodore Ian Murray, Commander Fleet Air Arm, Commodore Chris Smallhorn and Commanding Officer HMAS Albatross, Captain Simon Bateman were on hand to conduct the official opening.

HMAS Albatross is sporting a first-class recreational and meeting space with the opening of the Navy Canteens facility in the newly constructed base support precinct.

The crew of replenishment ship, HMAS Success had a break from military routine recently, sharing smiles with local kids during their south-east Asian deployment.

STS Young Endeavour Youth Crew Member Jessica Lowth receives her Certificate of Completion from Lieutenant Adam Farley RAN, Commanding Officer STS Young Endeavour.

A recent graduate of the Defence Indigenous Development Program and a Navy Cadet from Esperance in Western Australia were amongst the excited young crew who embarked on an 11 day adventure at sea when Sail Training Ship Young Endeavour departed Cairns on 25 July.
