The Royal Australian Navy frigate HMAS Ballarat has been enthusiastically welcomed home to Australia following a highly successful nine-month deployment as part of Operation MANITOU.

Makenzie, Max and Madelin wait for dad, Leading Seaman Electronics Technician Mathew Gilgen, to come off the ship as HMAS Sirius returns home to Fleet Base West after departing in August last year.

The 8th of May would have had a big circle around it on the calendars of many families of HMAS Sirius’ ship’s company, as that was the day the ship returned to her homeport at Fleet Base West after nine months away.

After nearly seven months away on deployment, the crew of HMAS Rankin has returned to Fleet Base West, to be met by the sight of familiar faces.

Able Seaman Communications and Information Systems Nikolai Gunn-Brockhoff enjoys a cuddle with 11 month old son Leon after HMAS Toowoomba returned home to Fleet Base West after a long and busy seven month deployment.

HMAS Toowoomba has returned to its homeport of Fleet Base West, Rockingham, Western Australia, after the ship’s longest deployment to date, successfully contributing to seven Task Groups in seven months.
