Petty Officer Boatswain Bruce Walsh joined the Royal Australian Navy in 1986 as a Reservist, a big change from his former life as a Painter and Decorator. In 2004 POB Walsh transferred to the full time Navy because he enjoyed the Navy lifestyle and wanted to make it a career.

Jessica McGannon receives her Royal Australian Navy appointment certificate from her father, Commander John McGannon at the Australian Hydrographic Office in Wollongong.

In a first for Wollongong Defence Force Recruiting, new Midshipman Jessica McGannon was officially sworn into the Royal Australian Navy by her father, Commander John McGannon, in an enlistment ceremony held at the Australian Hydrographic Office earlier this week.

Chief Petty Officer Richard 'Blue' Timms is presented his Federation Star by Chief of Navy, Vice Admiral Ray Griggs, AO, CSC, RAN recognising over 40 years of service in the Royal Australian Navy.

Chief Petty Officer Richard Timms was recently presented with a Federation Star in recognition of over 40 years of service in the Royal Australian Navy. The star was presented by Chief of Navy, Vice Admiral Ray Griggs as family and colleagues from HMAS Creswell looked on.

Royal Australian Air Force Warrant Officer Simon Koch, currently serving as the Training Officer at the Australian Joint Acoustic Analysis Centre at HMAS Albatross, was at home enjoying parental leave with his new baby daughter when he received a call from his Commanding Officer, Lieutenant Commander Darren Nasato RAN.

On behalf of the Chief of the Royal Australian Navy, Vice Admiral Ray Griggs AO CSC RAN, Commander Higino das Neves, the Commander of the Timor-Leste Navy, presented CPOB Clayton Rowe with a Chief of Navy Gold Commendation during the Timor-Leste Navy’s 12 year anniversary celebrations at the Port Hera Naval Base, Timor-Leste.

The last permanent Navy member with unbroken service from Stevenson Division, the 31st intake at HMAS Leeuwin, recently retired from the Navy after almost 44 years service.
