723 Squadron instructors conduct deck landings to achieve their Deck Landing Qualifications on the Multi-role Aviation Training Vessel, MV Sycamore.

It was a week of “firsts” when instructors from HMAS Albatross’s 723 Squadron (Joint Helicopter School) commenced training with the Royal Australian Navy’s new-generation training ship MV Sycamore.

Aviation Support Trainees are presented with a realistic simulation of a helicopter crash. As part of the fire and rescue component of their course, trainees were required to battle a fire, secure the aircraft and rescue the aircrew.

With just a couple of weeks until graduation, the heat is definitely on for the 14 Aviation Support (AVN) trainees who have just completed the firefighting and rescue phase of their 19 week course.

HMAS Adelaide is returned to her regular berth after a period of maintenance within Captain Cook Graving Dock, Fleet Base East, Sydney, NSW.

HMAS Adelaide is preparing to embark on its longest deployment this year – a three month journey across the South Pacific to Hawaii and back called Indo-Pacific Endeavour 2018 (IPE18). The deployment represents the second iteration of the Indo-Pacific Endeavour activity in which Adelaide has been the flagship.
