HMAS Tobruk has arrived in Wewak in the East Sepik Province of Papua New Guinea. Over 100 embarked personnel travelling with HMAS Tobruk are bringing medical, dental, veterinary and engineering assistance to the township.

Able Seaman Taylor Burgess, Seaman Kasey Senior and Able Seaman Jordan Shephard get close to Mangitungs the cus cus at the community health fair.

The veterinary team deployed for Pacific Partnership 2013 has treated a most unusual patient.

Far from the farm stock and pets they were expecting, the team were presented with a native cus cus, a striking orange bush possum.

Named Mangitungs, the cus cus was brought in to a full day community health fair by his owner Erica.

WESTERN PACIFIC OCEAN – The Royal Australian Navy has joined forces with the United States Navy (USN) and Japan Maritime Self-Defence Force (JMSDF) to participate in a tri-lateral exercise, Pacific bond 2013, June 22-26.

Pacific Bond is a multi-national naval exercise designed to advance participating nations’ military-to-military coordination and capacity to plan and execute tactical operations in an advanced warfare environment.

The Officer of the Watch onboard HMAS Perth keeps a watchful eye as HMAS Melbourne comes astern in preparation for a Tow Exercise in the East Australian Exercise Area, Jervis Bay.

HMAS Perth is a little way from her home port of Fleet Base West as she works hard in the East Australian Exercise Area, near Jervis Bay to prepare for a Unit Readiness Evaluation where she will be tested on Warfare, Seamanship, Emergency Procedures and much more in preparation for a busy six months of exercises.

As part of its embed with the United States Navy’s 7th Fleet George Washington Carrier Strike Group, the Australian guided missile frigate HMAS Sydney is taking part in Exercise Nichi Go Trident, a bilateral exercise between the Royal Australian Navy and the Japanese Maritime Self Defense Force that occurs on an opportunity basis.

The chefs onboard HMAS Choules have been busier than usual lately as the ship’s company and embarked forces are put through their paces in a major amphibious exercise off the coast of far north Queensland.

Naval personnel and units from Australia, Japan and the United States are enroute to participate in a tri-lateral maritime exercise, Pacific Bond 2013, that is due to take place from 22nd to 26th June, 2013.
