HMAS Moreton cleans the streets

Members of HMAS Moreton ship's company clean the streets of Bulimba in Brisbane, Queensland as part of the Clean Up Australia campaign.
The ship's company of HMAS Moreton have rolled up their sleeves and walked the streets of Brisbane for the Clean Up Australia campaign.
 
A team registered to clean up the Bulimba foreshore area of the Brisbane River as well as a nearby park, removing 40 kilograms of rubbish and five kilograms of recyclable material.
 
Commanding Officer Moreton, Commander Mark McConnell and Executive Officer, Lieutenant Commander Marsh Quintieri led the clean up effort through Moreton’s designated area.
 
“This year’s clean up was a cracking activity with outstanding results all round,” Lieutenant Commander Quintieri said.
 
Members of ship’s company were also able to freely engage with locals who frequent the parklands and foreshore while conducting the clean up. Working in uniform, the team were a visible and welcome presence in the local area.
 
The Clean Up Australia organisation's aim is to inspire and work with communities to clean up, fix up and conserve the environment.
 
HMAS Moreton is located in Bulimba, Queensland and facilitates coordination and administration of all RAN activity in the area as well as providing logistic and port facilities for visiting warships.
