High achieving Navy sportswoman Able Seaman Electronic Warfare Rhiannon Metcalfe made both Navy and AFL history when she was drafted by the Adelaide Crows Women’s Team on 18 October.

After winning the past five Australian Services Bowls Association championships, Navy could not make it six in a row after being defeated in the 2016 final by the Air Force at Windsor Bowls Club, New South Wales.

For the second year in a row, last place was taken by the team from Navy Strategic Command made up of Commander Marcus Buttler, Lieutenant Commander Luke Hartfiel and Mr Alistair Smith.

The annual HMAS Harman Legacy Golf Day, held on 23 September at the former Air Force base at Fairbairn in Canberra, proved to be yet another great success, raising over $2,700 for Queanbeyan Legacy.

Petty Officer Maritime Logistics - Supply Chain Sarah Hickling from HMAS Albatross strikes the soccer ball for a penalty shoot-out against HMAS Anzac during the finals of the Nirimba Cup soccer competition held at Randwick Barracks, Sydney.

The team from frigate, HMAS Anzac took home the Nirimba Cup following several nail-biting soccer matches and penalty shoot-outs at Randwick Barracks in Sydney in mid September.

On the hot and humid sports fields of Defence Establishment Berrimah, Northern Territory, 300 military personnel from eight countries battled for the honours at the Exercise KAKADU 2016 All Ranks Sports Day.
